Ace director Mani Ratnam is bankrolling a film under his banner Madras Talkies with GV Prakash, Vikram Prabhu and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead. The film will be directed by Dhanasekaran, an associate of director Mani Ratnam.
According to the latest reports about this project, we hear that Radikaa and Sarath Kumar have been roped in to play pivotal roles. Apparently, Vikram Prabhu and Aishwarya will be paired together and GV Prakash and Madonna will make the other pair.
The prep work for this film, which has been titled Vaanam Kottatum for now, is currently on with plans to begin the shooting in June this year. Govind Vasantha has been roped in to compose the tunes for this film.
The music director had shared the news on his Instagram page last November. “With the man who brought Velunayakan and Anandan to life in front of us. Honored to have signed up for a movie to be produced and co-written by The Mani Ratnam. Directed by Dhana Sekaran,” read his post.
It was earlier reported that Dhanasekharan, a former assistant of Mani Ratnam, would be directing a movie co-written by the director. Sources told DT NEXT “The film has its dialogues co-written by Mani Ratnam and will go on floors soon. The story was originally planned to be a Mani Ratnam directorial. However, he couldn’t take it up due to his commitments because of Ponniyin Selvan. The story of his production venture is a unique script that will cater to the audience across sections.”
The director’s last outing was Padaiveeran which released last year. The film had Vijay Yesudas and Amritha Aiyer in the lead roles, with Bharathiraja and Akhil in supporting roles. On the other hand, GV Prakash’s last outing was Sarvam Thaala Mayam which is a musical drama that has been written and directed by Rajiv Menon.
The film was produced by Latha Menon under the banner Mindscreen Film Institute. GV Prakash currently has a slew of ongoing acting assignments that include Jail, 4G, Ayangaran, Kaadhalai Thedi Nithya Nandha, Watchman and Rettai Kombu. He has reportedly signed on the dotted lines to compose music for the upcoming Dhanush Vettrimaran project Asuran that will start rolling soon.
