Actor Vijay’s much-awaited film Sarkar, directed by AR Murugadoss, is getting ready for a big Deepavali release. Going by the hype and pre-release buzz, the film is set to open big across screens worldwide. The film is releasing amidst unprecedented hype. It is rumoured to release in around 3,000 screens worldwide.

According to a report by Tamil daily Dinamalar, the Vijay-starrer Sarkar may not be screened in any of the AGS screens across the state. Sarkar is likely to be out in over 700 screens in Tamil Nadu alone. However, according to sources, the film may not be screened in the AGS Villivakkam, Maduravoyal screens. Enquiries revealed that the Kalpathi Aghoram’s AGS refused the Chengalpet rights of the film following which the distributors are now against screening the film in their theatres.

However, Vijay seems to be unhappy over this development, say sources. The star’s next film is to be bankrolled by AGS and it is quite natural that he would want Sarkar to be screened in their theatres. Also, the film’s share is bound to increase if it were to be screened at AGS theatres. Well, it remains to be seen if the issue will be resolved right on time so that Sarkar is released at AGS.

The film is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under his banner Sun Pictures. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman is scoring music for this magnum opus with lyricist Vivek penning the lyrics, Girish Gangadharan wielding the camera and A Sreekar Prasad editing it. AR Murugadoss and Vijay are teaming up for the third time after the success of Thuppaki and Kaththi and fans are hopeful that the duo would score a hat-trick at the box office with Sarkar.

Sarkar has two heroines – Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar – in the star cast. Those in the supporting roles include Arjun Sarja, Prem Kumar, Yogi Babu, Radha Ravi, and Pala. Karuppiah.
