Arka Media Works has released a press statement about the status quo ordered by the Hyderabad High Court regarding the film's release.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi’s Sindhubaadh, produced by K Productions, is slated for release this Friday but all is not well. A press release from Arka Media states that based on a legal notice sent on May 11, the film cannot release when there’s a status quo in place. The status quo was ordered by the Hyderabad High Court for Vijay Sethupathi’s Sindhubaadh and Dhanush’s Enai Noki Paayum Thota on May 8 this year.

The release states, “Any action on your (makers of Sindhubaadh) part which is aimed at aiding/abetting in/of the release of the movie Sindhubaadh in any mode/medium/format, will constitute a contempt of court punishable under the Contempt of Courts Act, as the status quo orders dated 8.5.2019.”

Arka Media Works, makers of the magnum opus Baahubali series, had recently filed a case against SN Rajarajan of K Productions, who had distributed the Tamil version of the movies in Tamil Nadu, for the unpaid dues he owes to the production house. K Productions bought the theatrical rights for Baahubali for Rs 28 crore and paid Rs 12.5 crore. For the remaining amount, Rajarajan went ahead with a loan agreement with Shobu Yarlagadda which he has failed to repay.

Sindhubaadh's director SU Arun Kumar, however, told TNM that the film would release as per the plan on June 21. “This issue is being sorted out. And we believe that our movie will be released on time,” he said.

Arka Media’s advocate states in the release that they would be proceeding against K Productions and Rajarajan under the Contempt of Courts Act for “intentionally and wilfully disobeying orders of High Court”.

SU Arun Kumar has previously directed Pannaiyaraum Padminiyum and Sethupathi, both of them with Vijay Sethupathi. Sindhubaadh has been produced by SN Rajarajan and Shan Sutharsan under the banner of K Productions.
