The official teaser of Vijay Sethupathi’s Sangathamizhan was released on Independence Day. This film is his first time collaboration with Sketch director Vijay Chandar.

Produced by B Bharathi Reddy of Vijaya Productions, the film’s teaser introduces Vijay Sethupathi’s character as a someone who emerges from the ashes to seek revenge. His fist holding on to a red piece of cloth makes an appearance in the teaser first before we can see his face. With kungumam smeared across his forehead, Vijay Sethupathi tosses his sunglasses in one shot that lands with a thud on his jeep’s bonnet. In another shot, he is seen stylishly driving through a fence and swerving the jeep, raising a cloud of dust on his path.

The teaser promises good action and comes with an announcement that the film will hit the screens soon. Sangathamizhan also stars Raashi Khanna and Nivetha Pethuraj in important roles. With music by Vivek-Mervin, R Velraj has been roped in for cinematography while Praveen KL will be editing it.

Touted to be a commercial family entertainer, Sangathamizhan was announced almost a year ago and filming began from February this year.

Talking about the project to the Times of India, director Vijay Chandar had earlier said: “I’ve met Vijay Sethupathi a few times, and during one of those meetings, I happened to narrate a one-liner about the film to him, and he was kicked. He has done a variety of roles, and he told that he wanted to do a mass film now. Even I like making mass commercial films, and we thought this script could work for both of us.”

Vijay Sethupathi, meanwhile, will work on a project with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan soon. It may be noted that it was recently announced that Aamir Khan would star in the Hindi remake of the Madhavan-Vijay Sethupathi starrer Vikram Vedha, a neo-noir thriller, which was one of the most successful Tamil films of 2017.
