The Vijay Sethupathi starrer Aneethi Kathaigal is one of the most expected films. Helmed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, whose debut film Aaranya Kaandam went on to win him the coveted National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director, the film has Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing the female lead.

Well, there is an update about Aneethi Kathaigal and it is the inclusion of a second heroine. Incidentally, Gayathrie, who had worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom, Rummy, and Puriyatha Puthir has been roped in for the role. It may be mentioned that she will also be seen in a pivotal role in Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming films Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren and Seethakathi. Further, Malayalam star Fahadh Faail will be seen in this film in an important role. Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, and Fahadh Faasil, the star cast also includes director Mysskin.

The technical crew of this film comprises Yuvan Shankar Raja for music, PC Sreeram and PS Vinod for cinematography and Sathyaraj Natarajan for editing. According to reports, PC Sreeram worked on this project for the first schedule and opted out as the second schedule did not commence as per plans. Eventually, PS Vinod of Vikram Vedha fame was brought on board.

While the film is being directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, he has penned the dialogues along with noted directors Nalan Kumarasamy and Myskin. The director is producing the film under his own banner and is also looking to team up with a popular production house to fund it, according to sources.

Aneethi Kathaigal may hit the marquee later this year or early next year. The release date will depend on the film’s progress, we hear.
