Vetrimaaran’s Asuran, which marks the filmmaker’s fourth collaboration with Dhanush, is currently in its final leg of shooting. Earlier reports emerged that the film will also see a cameo role by Vijay Sethupathi, which the director has refuted. He clarified that the actor is not part of the project and was not even approached by the team.

Asuran is a revenge thriller based on the Tamil novel Vekkai. Dhanush will be seen in a role of a character who seeks to avenge the death of his father. He will be seen playing dual roles as both the father and son. The film also features popular filmmaker Balaji Sakthivel, best known for directing the hit Bharath and Sandhya starrer Kadhal, as the antagonist. This project marks the Tamil debut of Manju Warrier, who has paired up with Dhanush for the first time. The film also stars actor Karunas’s son Ken Karunas in a key role.  Last seen playing an accidental gangster in Vada Chennai, Dhanush will be seen playing a daily wage labourer in Asuran, and he will be seen in a fierce avatar. If everything goes as planned, the film will hit the screens this summer.

Dhanush earlier took to Twitter to share a new poster and announce the commencement of the final schedule of shooting.

Upon completing Asuran, Dhanush will return to the sets of his next project with director Durai Senthil Kumar of Kodi fame. Interestingly, this film too features Dhanush in dual roles and marks his reunion with actor Sneha after a decade. Cinematographer Om Prakash will crank the camera and this will be his fourth outing with Dhanush after Maari, Anegan and Maari 2. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. Music will be taken care by Vivek-Mervin duo.
