The shooting of Super Deluxe is currently underway, with plans to release it during the second hand of this year. Director Mysskin, who plays an important role in the film, has also penned its screenplay along with director Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Nalan Kumarasamy and Neelan K Sekar.
Interacting with the media recently, Mysskin was quizzed about the film’s progress to which he revealed that plans are on to have the film premiere at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival coming up in May this year. It may be noted here that Vasantha Balan’s Veyyil is the only Tamil film to premiere at Cannes till date.
Thiagarajan Kumararaja is an acclaimed director whose directorial debut was Aaranya Kaandam that won him the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director at the 59th National Film Awards. Vijay Sethupathi is playing a transwoman named Shilpa in the film and has stunned film buffs with his look. Sources close to the film unit say that he underwent a lot of training and has put in extraordinary efforts to get into the skin of the character.
Vijay Sethupathi is one of the busiest stars in the Tamil film industry. He has a slew of films in his kitty including Sye Raa, Junga, 96, Seethakaathi and Mani Ratnam’s untitled multi-starrer.
Written by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, the screenplay for Super Deluxe is written jointly by Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy and Neelan Shankar. Super Deluxe has an ensemble cast with Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil playing the lead roles. The other stars in the movie are Samantha Akkineni, Mysskin, Ramya Krishnan, Gayathrie and Bagavathi Perumal.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music composer for this flick; PS Vinod and Nirav Shah are credited with the cinematography while Sathyaraj Natarajan is roped in for editing.
The film is produced by Thiagarajan Kumararaja under the banner Tyler Durden And Kino Fist. The teaser of Super Deluxe came out on January 3 and created a lot of hype around the project. Expectations are high on this movie as it stars a talented set of actors with the most versatile filmmakers involved in penning the script.
Sources in the know say that Super Deluxe would bring out a different dimension of all the actors in the star cast and will be a treat to watch for film buffs.
