Vijay Deverakonda's debut production venture titled 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha'

After the blockbuster hit Pelli Choopulu, Vijay Deverakonda and director Tharun Bhascker are teaming up once again. But this time, Vijay will not be acting and Tharun will not be directing. Vijay will be rolling out his first production venture, with Pelli Choopulu director Tharun Bhascker roped in as a hero for the venture.

The film is titled Meeku Maathrame Cheptha, and this was revealed by Vijay and Tharun via an interactive video.

Tharun Bhascker began his career as a director helming short films. Some of his critically acclaimed works include Vinoothna Geetha Media, Anukokunda, and Sainma. He then went on to direct his first feature film Pelli Choopulu, which won two National Awards - Best Telugu film and Best Screenplay for Dialogues. Pelli Choopulu also fetched a few other prestigious awards such as the Filmfare. 

Vijay Deverakonda made his Tollywood debut with Tharun Bhascker's Pelli Choopulu which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. Tharun also played the role of Singeetham Srinivas Rao in Nag Ashwin’s directorial venture Mahanati. Tharun recently directed a web series, titled B.Tech which was premiered on OTT platform Zee5. Last year, his second directorial Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi had hit the marquee to positive reviews. The film was made on a budget of Rs. 2 crore and went on to collect Rs. 6 crore at the box office. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi starred Abhinav Gomatam, Sai Sushanth Reddy, Venkatesh Kakumanu, Vishwak Sen, Anisha Ambrose and Simran Choudhary, with Vijay Devarakonda making a special appearance.

On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda is currently busy with the yet untitled Kranthi Madhav directorial. The film has Catherine Tresa playing the female lead. KS Rama Rao is bankrolling it under his banner. On the film’s storyline, we hear that it is a romantic tale that will be based on some real-life incidents.

It was recently announced that director Puri Jagannadh is all set to direct a film with Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. The pre-production of this film is on and the shooting will begin in January next year. The rest of the star cast and crew of this film will be announced soon officially.    

The star also has the Anand Annamalai directorial in his kitty. Reports are that it is a sports musical and has been titled Hero. In this movie, Vijay Deverakonda will be playing a professional biker and will be undergoing rigorous training for the role. Vijay Deverakonda is expected to join Puri Jagannadh’s film after completing these two projects.
