Video of woman farmer protesting against Naidu's landpooling scheme goes viral

The News Minute | February 9, 2015 | 10:15 am IST A video of a woman protesting against the collection of fertile lands for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh has gone viral and sees itself doing rounds on Facebook and WhatsApp. Boyapati Sudharani, a farmer from Krishnayapalem village in tullur mandal, was once a strong supporter of the ruling Telugu Desam Party but now finds herself strongly opposing the land pooling scheme.  The News Minute cannot confirm the time when the video was shot but a Facebook page called “We support Boyapati Sudharani Chowdary” shows two videos of her anguish against the land pooling scheme which are now being largely circulated in the social media. Reports also suggest that the police came to her house and conducted an inquiry about the video. Sudharani in both the videos protests against the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Bill-2014 which was introduced in the assembly by AP Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana in December. The CRDA is expected to be the supreme authority from the ground level to the conceptualization and administration of the capital region. It is also responsible for the land pooling scheme and everything related to the development of the capital region. The bill also gives CRDA the authority to acquire, sell, transfer or grant license for the purpose of development of the land. The bill also allows the state government to constitute the CRDA with the chief minister as chairman. The first video which is set near the backdrop of a TDP speech, sees the person taking the video, asking her to "go and talk to them now that they are here" to which she immediately says "Its no use. They have brought the CRDA. They have the right to take away our land now. We only have voted for Chandrababu Naidu and brought it upon ourselves" as she is close to breaking down. She also adds that there was no freedom to speak out their difficulties and problems and alleged that Naidu’s claim of farmer-friendly government was totally false.   This comes as CPI(M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury strongly criticized Naidu's move of taking over agricultural land for the proposed capital while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day AP state conference of the party in Vijayawada on SundayCommenting on the state of financial affairs in the state, Yechury also blamed the TDP led government of imposing heavy taxes and burdening the common man.The Facebook page of 'We Support Boyapati Sudharani' and the second video can be found here.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
