An officer from the Hyderabad Traffic Police has won many hearts on the internet, after a video, showing the constable standing in knee deep water and doing his duty went viral.

The video shows the policeman holding an umbrella in one hand, and directing vehicles with the other, even as fast-flowing water gushes well above his knees.

The video was taken by a car driver who was impressed by the traffic cop’s commitment.

The Hyderabad City Police even acknowledged the appreciation after the driver uploaded the footage on Twitter.

“@hydcitypolice this is incredible job guiding us to safety in #rains #hydpolice @KTRTRS @HYDTP salute!!!”(sic), the driver posted on Twitter.

"Please let me know his details I would love to gift him something or may be his kids," he added later.

It is unclear where the video was taken, but it was taken on Friday evening.

Hyderabad witnessed continuous rain on Friday, especially in the IT Corridor, with Madhapur recording 8 cm of rainfall, While areas like Uppal, Marredpally, Himayathnagar and Quthbullapur recorded 4cm.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a two-day warning till October 2.

"Thunderstorm associated with heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana," the warning reads.

Skymet Weather reported that in the 24-hour period from 8.30 am on Friday, Hyderabad recorded 14. 2 mm of rain.

As on September 29, Hyderabad is rain surplus by 7% while Telangana is rain deficient by 14%, the report added.
