Vedhika, who made her acting debut with the Tamil movie Madarasi in 2006, is all set to enter Bollywood. The star has so far acted in all the four south Indian language films – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada – and is now set to widen her horizons.
In a statement, it has been confirmed that the gorgeous heroine will be sharing the screen space with Emraan Hashmi in a movie that will be directed by acclaimed director Jeethu Joseph. Interestingly, this will be his first directorial in Bollywood.
On Vedhika bagging the role, we hear that it wasn’t easy for her. A country-wide audition was held in which actors from various places attended but the role eventually went to Vedhika.
Vedhika was quoted by mid-day saying, “I'm so glad that I waited for the right project to come my way and this seems perfect. I'm very excited and thankful to the director Jeethu Joseph, producer Sunir Kheterpal and the entire team at Viacom18 Motion Pictures for this opportunity. I can't wait to start this exciting journey. Emraan Hashmi is such a fabulous actor and I look forward to working with him.”
On Vedhika’s role in the film, Jeethu Joseph says that she plays an innocent college girl and will be a perfect fit for the character he has etched out. Producer Sunir Kheterpal on roping Emraan Haashmi has said that he is fresh and the one to watch out for while Vedhika is a talented and hardworking actor. The film, which has been titled The Body, will be bankrolled by Sunir Kheterpal of Azure Entertainment and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
Apart from The Body, she also has the Malayalam movie Trance, Kannada film Home Minister and the Tamil / Malayalam bilingual Vinodhan.
