A few months ago, there was an announcement that director VC Vadivudaiyan would direct a war drama with Sunny Leone in the lead.

Set in a different era, the film will have Sunny Leone playing a warrior princess, it was revealed.

Now, the shooting of this film, titled Veeramadevi has begun with the team going ahead with the official pooja and the shooting commenced on the same day, say sources. Incidentally, this film would mark Sunny Leone’s debut in the Tamil film industry.

Produced by Phonse Stephen under his Steve’s Corner, the film is being made on a high budget with the team earmarking a huge amount for the VFX.

This is one of the biggest projects for the actor and she has allotted 150 days of the call sheet for it. Navdeep will be playing the baddie in this period drama and Amrish Ganesh has been roped in to compose music.

Sunny, on Veeramadevi going on to the floors had tweeted, “#Veeramadevi shooting started today!! So excited.”

The actor has prepared well for the role and reports are that she underwent a special training in sword fighting.

In an interview earlier, she had told “I have always liked doing action sequences. I was waiting for a script like this for a long time. I started preparing for this movie from the minute director V C Vadivudayan narrated the story. I have a special love towards south India.”

With the shooting of this film on, fans can expect its release date to be announced soon. Director VC Vadivudayan made his debut as director with Saamida in 2008 and has films like Thambi Vettothi Sundaram, Sowkarpettai and Pottu to his credit till date.

It may be noted here that Sunny made her debut in Tamil with Vadacurry in which she had done a cameo.
