With over half a dozen projects ranging from star-studded to small ones, actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is on a roll. Last seen on screen playing a police officer with negative shades in Sathya, the Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Kshanam, Varalaxmi has landed a plum role in the upcoming Vijay-AR Murugadoss yet-untitled project.
On Monday, Sun Pictures, the makers of the film, officially announced that Varu, as she’s fondly called by her peers in the industry, is part of the project.

This is the first time that Varalaxmi will share screen space with Vijay. The shoot for the project is going on at breakneck speed. After canning important scenes of the film in Kolkata last month, the team recently returned to Chennai and began shooting at Madha Medical College.
The project marks the third time collaboration of Vijay and Murugadoss after Thuppakki and Kaththi. It is believed that the project is being planned as a Deepavali 2018 release and might lock horns with Ajith’s Viswasam at the box office. AR Rahman has been officially signed on for the project, which will mark his reunion with Murugadoss after the Hindi version of Ghajini.
The film also stars Keerthy Suresh, who has teamed up with Vijay after Bairavaa. Prem Kumar and Yogi Babu are also part of the star cast. The makers are yet to reveal who plays the antagonist in the project. In his collaboration with Vijay in Kaththi, Murugadoss had introduced Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh to Tamil audiences and he went on to leave a mark in a very well-written role.
Girish Gangadharan, the young lensman whose recent work includes Kali and Solo, is cranking the camera. National award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad, who has worked with Murugadoss in projects such as Thuppakki and Spyder, is also part of the film.
