Last seen playing Aishwarya Rajesh’s brother in Dhanush starrer Vada Chennai, a gangster drama directed by Vetrimaran, actor Saran Shakthi has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the second chapter of Yash’s KGF.

The actor himself took to Twitter to announce the news on Saturday. He tweeted saying, “Salaaam to all the rocky bhai fans out there so so happy to be working in #kgfchapter2 with this super amazing team and especially the super cool friendly director @prashanth_neel sir. Thank you so much for having me.”

Saran Shakthi is a Tamil actor who made his debut in the 2013 Mani Ratnam film Kadal as a child artiste. Last year, he impressed with his performance in the highly acclaimed Vada Chennai. He played the lead role in the movie Sagaa that released earlier this year, but the movie did not do well at the box office.

The Yash starrer KGF: Chapter 1, which was released last year in five languages simultaneously – Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi – turned out to be a massive hit in all the centres it was released. The film was directed by Prashanth Neel, who also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues. Vijay Kiragandur produced the project under his banner Hombale Films.

Following the runaway success of KGF, which emerged as the first Kannada film to breach the Rs 200 crore club worldwide, the hype for KGF: Chapter 2 has reached unprecedented heights. Chapter 2 went on the floors earlier this year with a traditional pooja. Prashanth Neel is directing the sequel too while Vijay Kiragandur is bankrolling the project again.

While Yash and Srinidhi Shetty play the lead pair in the film, it will have Sanjay Dutt playing a character named Adheera, speculated to be the villain. The film also stars Raveena Tandon in an important role. The technical team comprises music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda, and art director Shivakumar.
