A man in the US allegedly brutally stabbed his wife to death and then took his own life seemingly because he was jealous of her love for Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan. According to reports, the incident took place in Queens in New York, and the man has been identified as 33-year-old Dineshwar Budhidat. His wife Donne Dojoy, 27, worked as a bartender and was a big fan of Hrithik.
Dineshwar would often get ‘violently jealous’ of his wife’s liking for Hrithik Roshan and would often confront her about the same, reports said.
Mala Ramdhani, a karaoke singer at Gemini’s Ultra Lounge in Ozone Park, where Dojoy tended bar, told the New York Post that when Donne would be at home watching a movie or listening to a song that had Hrithik Roshan in it, he would ask her to stop watching or listening to it because he would “get that jealous.”
Dineshwar and Donne
The New York Daily News reported that Dineshwar Budhidat had slapped and tried to strangle Donne in August, and Donne had then moved court seeking a protection order against Dineshwar. He was even arrested then and the case was to be heard in January.
Two weeks ago, following multiple fights, Donne had moved out of the apartment but on Friday night, she agreed to meet Dineshwar at their home. When Donne came home, Dineshwar stabbed her to death. At around 7.30 pm, he then allegedly sent a text message to Donne’s sister, telling her that he had killed Donne and he had left the key to the apartment under a flower pot, the NY Post reported.
After he sent the text message, Dineshwar went out and hanged himself from a tree in a field nearby, reports said.
Another friend of Donne’s told the Post that Donne had confided in her friends that he was abusive and controlling as well. "I think he loved her but at the same time, he was obsessed with her, because of the type of job she did," Rodney, a friend of Donne, said. "She looked good, she always made her money, so he was probably jealous of her."
