Upendra and director R Chandru announced a new project some time ago. A recent update about it is that it will be launched on November 18 with plans to complete the shooting in one stretch. Titled Kabza, the film is set in the 1980s and the director has earmarked several locations in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Madurai and Mangaluru for the shooting.

Touted to be a gangster film, the filmmakers are planning to release Kabza in seven languages – Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali. Tollywood actor Jagapathy Babu has been roped in to play one of the seven baddies in the film. Reports indicate that Nana Patekar (who was accused of sexual harassment by Tanushree Dutta), Manoj Bajpai, Pradeep Rawat, Prakash Raj, Samuthirakani and Jaya Prakash Reddy may also join the star cast as villains. However, there is no official confirmation on this yet. Kabza will be produced under R Chandru’s own banner, Sri Siddheswara Enterprises.

It may be noted here that Upendra and director Chandru had teamed up for the Kannada movie I love You earlier this year. The film, which was also bankrolled by Chandru, starred Upendra and Rachita Ram in the lead roles. Sonu Gowda played a pivotal role in this flick besides a host of actors in supporting roles. The technical crew of I Love You included music by Kiran Thotambyle and cinematography by Sugnaan with Deepu S Kumar doing the edits. The Telugu version of this film was released in the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra and Telangana to positive reviews.

Upendra is currently busy with Buddhivantha 2 directed by Maurya DN. While the title gave rise to speculations that it may be a sequel to Upendra’s hit movie Buddhivantha, the director confirmed that it is not so. Upendra will be playing dual roles in this film with Sonal Monteiro and Meghana Raj as the female leads.
