In an alarming incident that has surfaced from Mangalagiri, one of the towns in the capital region of Amaravati, a woman in her late 20s was found murdered on Monday. According to police, two unidentified men allegedly attacked the woman and her boyfriend at an isolated place near the international cricket stadium in Mangalagiri limits.

According to police, 27-year-old Angadi Jyothi and 29-year-old Chinchi Srinivas belonged to Tadepalli's Mahanadu. Police sources said that both of them were in the vicinity of the international stadium to spend some time on Monday evening when they were attacked.

The reasons behind attack are yet to be ascertained by investigation authorities. The assailants attacked the couple with metal objects. While Jyothi died on the spot, Srinivas sustained injuries on the head and is undergoing treatment at NRI Medical College.

Speaking to TNM, Managalagiri Rural Inspector P Balaji said, "The victim Srinivas in his statement claimed that two unidentified men attacked them while they were spending some private time."

While the woman’s boyfriend maintains that they were attacked by unknown assailants, family of the deceased is alleging that Srinivas has a role in it.

The inspector said the girl’s brother Angadi Prabhakar believes that Srinivas had a hand in the murder. “As of now, no arrests have been made. We are investigating the case from all possible angles," he added.

A case has been registered under IPC 302 (punishment for murder) and 307 (punishment for attempt to commit murder).

While the post-mortem has been completed, police are waiting for the report to proceed further with the investigation.
