Two fans of actor-politician Pawan Kalyan died of electrocution while trying to install a 30-foot 'flex' in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam district.

The police said that the incident occurred in Payakaraopeta town, some 90 km from the coastal city of Visakhapatnam, on Tuesday night.

The dead have been identified as 28-year-old T Nagaraju and 31-year-old B Shiva. According to the police, they were making arrangements for the visit of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan to the town on Thursday.

While trying to install the flex of the actor, they came in contact with a high tension wire, resulting in their death, a police officer said.

Pawan was expected to visit the town on Thursday as part of his 'Praja Porata Yatra'.

Dubbed the Jana Sena Porata Yatra, the tour will see a mix of walkathons (padayatra), public meetings and road shows.

Pawan Kalyan said that the aim of this yatra is to highlight the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and also to highlight the several promises made by the Centre during the state’s bifurcation.

Last week, the Jana Sena party chief toured Srikakulam district for several days, before entering Vizianagaram district. He is scheduled to enter Visakhapatnam district on Thursday.

Asking his party workers to visit villages and work on the grass root level, Pawan also said, “The Chief Minister has given priority to the development of the TDP family rather than the most backward areas like Uttarandhra and tribal areas.”

Pawan, who had campaigned for the BJP-TDP alliance in 2014 elections before falling out with them, also hopes that the tour would greatly help them when the state goes to the polls in 2019.

The actor-politician has already said that his party would contest all 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh during the 2019 polls.
