Dwarkapeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand has said that the Shirdi Sai Baba was a mere human and not a god, and therefore, should not be worshipped.

He said that foreign organizations were conspiring to prevent Hindus from uniting, the Shankaracharya Swami told news channels. He also said that Sai Baba was not to be considered a guru because he was a non-vegetarian and advocated circumcision.

He also said that Sai Baba was not a symbol of the unity of Hindus and Muslims. If he was, he would have been revered by Muslims as well.
The Swami also said that those the building of temples in Sai Baba’s name were merely an attempt to make money.
