Condolences poured in following the death of three-time Goa Chief Minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar from all quarters, and from across the political spectrum. The news of his death was announced by President of India Ram Nath Kovind, who called him an “epitome of integrity and dedication in public life”.

Parrikar passed away at the age of 63 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in February last year and has been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York since. 

Tributes to the BJP leader called him a "true patriot" and a "symbol of simplicity in politics".

Tributes also poured in for the BJP leader from citizens, praising him for the politician he was.
