Protesting BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind’s remarks against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his daughter and party MLC K Kavitha, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers attacked Arvind’s residence in Hyderabad on the morning of November 18, Friday. The workers of the ruling party barged into the Nizamabad MP's house in Banjara Hills, broke window panes, and ransacked the furniture. They also set the BJP MP’s effigy on fire and sloganeered against him.

Arvind was not present at his house when the attack took place. One of the security personnel sustained a minor injury in the incident. The police soon detained the TRS workers who had gathered outside the MP’s house and arrested around 30 of them.

The attack was allegedly in retaliation to Arvind’s tirade against the CM and his family on Thursday, during which he had referred to Chandrasekhar Rao as the “silliest CM of the country” and called his family “hopeless”. He had also alleged that Kavitha had contacted Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in a bid to join the party, adding that “their own daughter was being sold”.

Addressing the media following the attack, Telangana Foods chairman M Rajeev Sagar said, “Our protest is against MP Dharmapuri Arvind’s personal comments. He is making baseless allegations and claims. It is unfortunate that disrespectful comments are being made against a woman.”

Meanwhile, MLC Kavitha dismissed Arvind’s allegation that she had contacted Mallikarjun Kharghe to join the Congress party. “I am not sure how Arvind dreamt of such a thing. You can call Kharge ji and check with him if I have done this. I am not interested in joining any party. TRS has now become the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and we will now work at the national level,” she said.

“Arvind is like slush. We don’t throw stones at him. He is a mischievous person. But since he has made such an allegation, I am addressing the media to give clarity to the people. It is not even worth taking Arvind’s name. It is unfortunate that the BJP has leaders like him. Let’s not drop the dignity of politics,” said Kavitha.

Addressing Arvind, she added, “Keep this in mind. If you talk nonsense about me yet again, I’ll beat you with my footwear at the Nizamabad chowrastha. Do you think this is a joke? No decorum in language, no respect for anyone. What exactly is your contribution to Telangana? You think you can keep blabbering nonsense and we will just keep ignoring it?”

Meanwhile, the BJP MP alleged that TRS goons attacked his house on the directions of the Chief Minister, his son and minister KT Rama Rao, and Kavitha. “TRS goons attacked my residence and vandalised the house. They terrorised my mother & created ruckus,” Arvind said in a tweet, while tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
