Last seen in Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta, Trisha has now inked the deal to star in a new film which will be helmed by Saravanan of Engeyum Eppodhum fame who went on to do films such as Ivan Vera Maathiri and Vaamanan. Titled Raangi, the film will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions on a big budget and it went on floors recently with an custom pooja.

She also has a heroine centric film, directed by debutante Sumanth Radhakrishnan. Touted to be an action-adventure for which she is teaming up with Simran, the film is also said to feature India’s first deep-sea stunt sequences.

It is speculated that she and Simran play on-screen siblings. The both stars were last seen in Rajinikanth's Petta though they did not share screen space together.

Apart from these two films, Trisha currently has two other Tamil films 1818 and Paramapadham Vilayattu. 1818 Directed by Rithun Sagar,  is a bilingual made in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. The film is inspired by the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Besides Trisha playing the lead role, 1818 also has Brahmanandam, Rajendra Prasad, Suman, Ramesh Thilak and Misha Ghoshal. S Thaman is composing the music for this flick with Om Prakash handling the camera.

When the film was announced initially, it was revealed that Abhinaya would be playing the lead role. Later, the script was reworked to bring in Trisha to the star cast. She will reportedly be playing a guest staying at a five star hotel when the attack happens. Touted to be a thriller, 1818 is set in a hotel and the story traces out the events that happen from 6 am to 6 pm.
