Trisha, celebrated actor of Tamil cinema, may be roped to play the female lead in a Malayalam film with Mohanlal in the lead and to be directed by Jeethu Joseph. The actor has shown interest in working with Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph and will work it out to suit her schedule, according to a report by News18. Trisha, after nearly two decades of acting, made her debut in Malayalam with Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude last year.

Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal had last come together to make the really popular thriller Drishyam more than five years ago. The new one is expected to be a family entertainer. We hear the shooting will begin in November and is expected to complete in 100 days. Anthony Perumbavoor will be bankrolling the venture under his banner Aashirvad Films.

Earlier, there were reports that the Drishyam team would reunite for a sequel to it but Jeethu Joseph denied it. Drishyam, starring Mohanlal and Meena, was such a big hit that it was remade in almost all languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Apart from directing the Malayalam film, Jeethu also went on to direct its Tamil version Papanasam which had Kamal Haasan and Gautami as the lead pair.

Released in 2013, Drishyam turned out to be the highest-grossing film in the Malayalam film industry until it was surpassed by Pulimurugan in 2016. In fact, it became the first Malayalam film to gross Rs 50 crore at the box office and went on to collect Rs 75 crore.

Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph is currently directing a Tamil movie that has Jyothika and Karthi in the lead. Apparently, they play siblings in this film. According to sources, the shooting of this untitled film has been completed in a single stretch and its release date is expected to be out soon.
