The trailer of actor Prithviraj’s upcoming science fiction horror thriller 9, will release on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11.00 am online. This trailer will then be telecast in 15 different Malayalam TV channels at 9.00 pm the same day, a unique promotional feat that has not been performed before.

The film that has been produced by Prithviraj’s wife Supriya’s and SPE Films, was wrapped up in April this year. Directed by Jenuse Mohamed, 9 stars Prithviraj, Prakash Raj, Wamiqa Gabbi and Mamta Mohandas in lead roles.

Not much is known about the film’s story. Sources in the know say that it is a horror and sci-fi film that has its lead star playing a scientist. However, those associated with the project are tight-lipped about it.

The film’s technical crew includes Shaan Rahman for composing the songs while Sekhar Menon will be composing the background score. Abinandhan Ramanujam is cranking the camera for this venture and Shameer Muhammed is the editor.

The character posters of the film were released through which it was revealed that Wamiqa Gabbi plays the role of Eva while Mamta Mohandas will be seen as Annie. Child actor Alok will be playing the role of Adam in this film.

Shot in Kerala and the Himalayas, the filming has been done for 9 using Red Gemini 5K camera, the first time for an Indian film.

To be distributed by Sony Pictures, this film marks the entry of Sony Pictures into the Malayalam film industry.

Apart from 9, Prithviraj has two films lined up in different stages of production - Aadujeevitham and Lucifer. Koode was his 100th film that was written and directed by Anjali Menon. The film also starred Nazriya Nazim, and Parvathy.

9 has been slated for release on February 7.
