According to a new rule imposed by the Tamil Film Producers Council, only small budget films can be released on the first and third Fridays of the month. On November 16, which is the third Friday, the TFPC has permitted the release of four movies – Sei, Uththravu Maharaja, Kaatrin Mozhi and Chithiram Pesuthadi 2.

While the four films are gearing up for release, news surfaced that Vijay Antony’s Thimiru Pudichavan will also be out at the theatres on the same day. This film was supposed to be a Diwali release but was postponed for various reasons.

Being a high budget film, the TFPC hasn’t given clearance for Thimiru Pudichavan to release on November 16 as it would affect the prospects of other movies at the box office. Making the situation clear, the TFPC has issued a press release stating that Sei, Uththravu Maharaja, Kaatrin Mozhi and Chithiram Pesuthadi 2 are the four films to release on November 16.

Sei is a thriller that features Nakul and Aanchal Munjal in the lead roles. The film is directed by Raj Babu and produced by Mannu and Umesh under the banner Trippy Turtle Productions.

Also in the star cast are MS Bhaskar, Kumaravel, Manobala, Mohan Raman, Uma Padmanabhan, Seema Taneja, and Sindhu. The film is directed by Radha Mohan, who had associated with Jyothika in Mozhi which won her several awards.

Uththaravu Maharaja is directed by Asif Kuraishi and stars Udhaya in the lead role with the veteran actor Prabhu playing a pivotal role. The film is bankrolled by Udhaya under the banner Jaeshan Studios.

Chithiram Pesuthadi 2 is directed by Rajan Madhav and has a bevy of actors in the star cast including Vidharth, Ajmal Ameer, Ashok, Nivas Adithan, Gayathrie, Radhika Apte, and Nivedhitha. It is produced by LV Srikanth, SN Ezilan, and Yugesram under the banner Dream Bridge Productions.
