  1. A sense of despair appeared in the town of Rameswaram where Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s elder brother and other relatives live. A number of people gathered to pay their respects at the former President’s residence. A local mosque has been closed, and the possibility of bringing his body back to the town for last rites was discussed. 2. Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji was sacked from the Cabinet as well from the AIADMK Karur District Secretary position, reported The Hindu. The reason for his removal is not clear.  3. A transgender applicant was provided relief by the Madras High Court after it directed a recruitment board to give her permission to participate in the physical test for a recruitment drive for women sub inspectors, reported The New Indian Express. 4. Weeks after a lawyer group publicly flouted the TN’s July 1 helmet rule and conducted protests at the Madurai bench of the Madras HC, action has been taken. Two Madurai-based lawyers were handed over contempt notices over incidents of advocate agitation, reported The New Indian Express. The two were asked why action should not be taken against them. 5. A person working as a sweeper in a school in Sathanur,Tiruvannamalai has been taken away by police for allegedly leaving burn injuries on the hands of six school students. After a student misplaced his money, Murugan, the sweeper, made six other students promise that they did not steal the money by placing burning camphor on their hands. A complaint was then made. 6.
