1. Following identification by the executive engineer who was allegedly threatened to pay Rs 1 crore, it has been confirmed that the Krishna Rao accused of blackmail is indeed Ashwin Rao. The Lokayukta police probing this case have filed an FIR against Ashwin, son of Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao, on Wednesday on various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act. 2. After petition by filed Ashwin Rao, the Karnataka High Court directed both the Lokayukta and Upalokayukta to not go ahead with any in-house investigation until the SIT, constituted by the state government, submitted its report on the internal corruption allegations in the Lokayukta. 3. BJP President Amit Shah will be visiting Bengaluru on Sunday for the Mahasampark Abhiyan initiative to be held at Palace Grounds on July 5. Preparation are in full swing and 800 representatives from Puducherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana are expected to attend the event. 4. In an intense debate in the legislative assembly, JD(S) MLA HD Kumaraswamy alleged that a minister's aide and IAS officers had paid bribe after they were trapped in the extortion racket carried out by a gang posing as Lokayukta officials. The Supreme Court on Friday will hear the state's petition in connection with the postponement of BBMP elections.
