Come December 21, it will be a three-cornered contest at the box office with three Telugu films gearing up for release. The Christmas weekend is the most awaited one among the filmmakers to release their films to cash in on the long festive weekend. The three Telugu movies lined up for release this year are the YSR biopic Yatra, Varun Tej’s Anthariksham and Sharwanand’s Padi Padi Leche Manasu. Interestingly, all the three films belong to different genres giving the film buffs a good choice to select.

Yatra, starring Mammootty as YS Rajashekar Reddy, is directed by Mahi V Raghav. The film is being produced jointly by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi under the banner of 70MM Entertainments. It has Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles.

To be released in Telugu and Tamil, Mammootty will be dubbing with his own voice in both the versions to lend credibility for his role. The Yatra team had already caught the attention of the film buffs and netizens by releasing the first look poster featuring Mammootty as YSR.  The technical crew of the film includes K for composing the tunes, Sathyan Sooryan for camera and A Sreekar Prasad for editing.

Director Sankalp Reddy of The Ghazi Attack is wielding the megaphone for Antariksham. Known for making a positive impact with his debut flick, expectations are high on this space thriller. Varun Tej plays the lead role in Antariksham, which has two heroines – Lavanya Tripathi and Aditi Rao Hydari – in the star cast.

The Hanu Raghavapudi directorial Padi Padi Leche Manasu stars Sharwanand and Sai Pallavi as the lead pair.  It is touted to be a rom-com, which is something that Hanu Raghavapudi excels in.

The film is being produced by Prasad Chukkapalli and Sudhakar Cherukuri under the banner Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. Vishal Chandrasekar is composing music for this venture.
