TN Seetharam announces new Kannada serial ‘Matthe Manvanthara’

The shooting for the serial will reportedly commence after Ugadi.

Popular actor, director and scriptwriter TN Seetharam has announced a new serial Matthe Manvanthara; the project comes a year after his serial Magalu Janaki abruptly ended due to COVID-19 related restrictions in 2020. According to the reports, the actor-director will commence with the shooting after Ugadi—a festival celebrated in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The project Matthe Manvanthara is like a new season for his earlier serial Manvantara which aired in 2001.

Speaking about his latest serial, he informed Entertainment Times, that his serial will revolve around a female protagonist who suffers from a rare but a potential disease, is a daughter of a Home Minister. The narrative of the show will focus on her interpersonal relationships with a domestic worker working at her place and the medical team that treats her. Meanwhile, he said that as in his previous serials there will be a brush of socio-political elements along with a glimpse into bureaucracy, he was quoted saying.

The actor-director will also essay a small role in the serial. He will again play an advocate in the serial. The serial will star Nandini Gowda, Chaitra, Srinivas Prabhu and Pravin D Rao in pivotal roles.

Senior actor Malavika Avinash, who has previously worked with Seetharam in Mayamruga and Manvantara, will also be starring in his latest directorial. Announcing the same she wrote on Instagram that she will be joining "her Guru" in the serial that is scheduled to air on Colors Kannada. 

Last week, the director had reportedly asked his fans for title suggestions for his new serial. According to the reports, Seetharam had asked his fans on Facebook to suggest names for his new serial without revealing much about the serial. The fans came up with many names for the actor to choose from.  He had posted on April 4 thanking everyone for their suggestions, and wrote that he received 6,700 suggestions.

Seetharam, who began his career writing for P Lankesh, has directed many hit TV serials before. He helmed serials like Mayamruga which aired on DD Chandana in 1998. Seetharam has also received Karnataka State Government's 'Aryabhata Awards' in the best director category for his serial Mukta; it was also the longest-running courtroom drama.
