With Chief Minister Jayalalithaa inviting applications from party aspirants in all 234 constituencies,the AIADMK has set the ball rolling officially on the electoral process for the 2016 polls. Meanwhille, the BJP announced on Monday that Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and JP Nadda will be State BJP’s in-charge and co-in-charge of the elections.

In a statement issues by the AIADMK HQ, Jayalalithaa said, “Party aspirants who wish to contest the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and Pondicherry Union Territory, can file their applications from January 20 to Febraury 3,2016."

Party treasurer and finance minister O Paneerselvam announced the application fee. He said that the application fee for Tamil Nadu would be Rs. 11,000 per aspirant, Rs.5,000 for Puducherry and for aspirants in Kerala Rs. 2000.

AIADMK party organising secretary C Ponnaiyan told TNIE, “We have already appointed our vote canvassers for over 65,000 booths. Just because opposite parties are yet to consider their position and decide on their alliances, we need not wait for it to happen.”

Meanwhile, sources in BJP told TNIE that couple of more appointments will take place soon in the TN BJP ahead of elections.

Till now, BJP has not been able to work out an alliance with other parties. PMK and DMDK have practically left the NDA alliance. DMDK leader Vijayakanth has also not given a final word on the alliance. But the BJP camp is reportedly upbeat about the new appointments.
