Not many stars are lucky enough to have three film releases in a month but it looks like Tovino Thomas will be joining this club. Three of the star’s films – Virus, And The Oscar Goes To… and Luca are set for release in June. While Virus will be out in the theatres on June 7, And the Oscar Goes to… and Luca will be hitting the marquee on June 21 and 28 respectively.
Virus, directed by Aashiq Abu, has a notable line-up of stars in the cast. The scripting for Virus is done by Mushin Parari, Suhas and Sharfu. National Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi will be cranking the camera for this venture with Sushin Shyam composing the tunes and editor Saiju Sreedharan taking charge at the editing table. Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal are bankrolling Virus under the banner OPM. Reports are that its makers have done a lot of research to make a movie out of the Nipah outbreak in Kerala in 2018, so that the events could be documented.
Wielding the megaphone for Luca is the debut director Arun Bose. He has scripted the film in association with Mridul George. The technical crew of Luca will comprise Sooraj S Kurup to compose the tunes, Nimish Ravi for cranking the camera and Nikhil Venu for editing. The film is bankrolled jointly by Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain under the banner Stories and Thoughts Productions.
And The Oscar Goes To… is directed by Salim Ahamed. Anu Sithara and an actor from abroad, whose name is not known yet, will be sharing screen space with Tovino Thomas in this entertainer. The film has a very talented technical crew with Bijibal roped in to score the music, Madhu Ambat for cinematography and the Oscar winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty for sound mixing and designing. According to reports, a major portion of the film will be shot in the US and Canada and the locations have been earmarked for it.
