Three member panel to be set up to suggest changes in testing and treatment of rape victims in Karnataka

The News Minute | August 1, 2014 | 01:35 pm IST The Karnataka government has decided to set up a three member panel of expert gynecologists who will come up with suggestions regarding changes in the present system of testing and treatment of rape victims, states a report by The New India Express. This is being done to ensure that rape victims are treated with care and respect and are not subjected to humiliation and embarrassment. At present, a two-finger test in done to examine rape victims which is considered to be a crude and harsh method. These measures were proposed on Thursday at a meeting of officials from Health, Social Welfare, Women and Child Welfare and Home Departments, further states the report.
