Days after AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said that Sasikala will be taking a decision on how the party will vote in the presidential elections, deputy speaker of Lok Sabha M Thambidurai and Dhinakaran met party general secretary VK Sasikala in separate meetings on Tuesday at the Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru.

It is speculated that they met to discuss the party’s stand in the presidential elections and also about the merger of the two factions of the AIADMK, reported The New Indian Express.

When asked about the meeting, Thambidurai said, “It was a courtesy call on Chinnamma,” while Dhinakaran said that he went along with his family to meet his aunt.

Thambidurai added that there is no split in the AIADMK and the Chief Minister is functioning well. He said that everyone including Panneerselvam, Palaniswami and himself were all elected under the “Two leaves” symbol and they had the duty to protect it.

On the other hand, Dhinakaran said that enemies will try to destabilize the government and the party but they will try to safeguard it.

It is however believed that both the factions of AIADMK led by TTV Dhinakaran and Edapaddi Palaniswami will be voting for the NDA government.

Thambidurai had met Union Information Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday and had told reporters that they will be finalising their stand in a couple of days. Chief Minister Edapaddi Palaniswami had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May and Modi had sought his support for the presidential elections.
