Textbooks will now be available just a click away, quite literally.

The ministry of human resource development on Monday launched "e-pathshala", a mobile application not just for students but also for parents, teachers and educators, The Times of India reported.

According to the report, the app with the concept of "learning on the go" can be used by students to download all NCERT textbooks on their smartphone and also view recorded lectures. Parents can track their children's learning outcomes, educators and teachers can get access to periodicals and teaching instructions.

While many agree that the concept is a good one, there are doubts about internet connectivity, which is poor in certain parts of the country.

"It will motivate students to log online and see the chapters. It will also be easier for parents, as well as for students who sometimes forget to bring the books to school. And the studious ones will make most of this application. However, the feel of the book cannot be replaced," Ameeta Mohan, principal, Amity International, Pushp Vihar told TOI.
