The investigating officer probing the suicide of a sub inspector in Telangan's Medak district was removed on Saturday.

DGP Anurag Sharma and DIG Akun Sabarwal are now investigating the case themselves, media reports said.

The Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Reddy was removed after he had concluded it was a case of suicide due to depression even before the medical reports were out.

Ramakrishna Reddy, sub-inspector posted at Kuknoorpally Police Station had shot himself in the forehead with his service revolver in his house at around 1:30 AM on August 17.

The suicide note recovered from his bed blamed nine of his superior officers for his death, including Dy SP Sreedhar and Circle Inspector Venkatiah.

His wife and two children had gone to his in-laws place on the night he was found dead.

The Dy SP, two Circle Inspectors and four constables mentioned in the suicide note have now been made to report directly to Medak SP Chandrashekar Reddy’s office.

Meanwhile, wife of the deceased on Saturday told reporters that other officers are scared as “it was the system which killed” her husband and requested the government for a fair probe.

After the incident, Ramakrishna’s family alleged that his superiors had been pressuring him for Rs 15 lakh in bribes, and this was what caused the SI to take his own life.

According to Som Reddy, Ramakrishna’s brother, the SI, had been depressed for nearly 15 days. He would regularly call his brother-in-law and tell him that his seniors were abusing and harassing him to collect large amounts of bribe.

His brother-in-law, Ram Reddy said that on the day Ramakrishna killed himself, he had told his wife over the phone that he was under pressure and had to find a way to arrange for more money. The investigating officer probing the suicide of a sub inspector in Telangan's Medak district was removed on Saturday.
