In a horrific video doing the rounds on social media, a Sub-Inspector of police from Bhadradri Kothagudem in Telangana can be seen brutally assaulting his mother-in-law and wife, even as neighbours stand around and film the incident.

SI Samudrala Jitender can be seen punching and kicking the women, and at one point in time, he can even be seen picking up a chair to hit the women, before someone intervenes to stop him.

According to media reports, Jitender and SK Parveen, an advocate, fell in love and got married in 2015. Their relationship fell apart, and she alleged things took a turn for the worse when he forcefully made her get an abortion when he learnt she was carrying a girl child.

He was posted in Kothagudem and she alleged that he kept her harassing for a dowry of Rs50 lakh. Some time later,Jitender dropped Parveen off at his native place,  Karimnagar, where she had their baby , a boy. But Jitender never came back to see the child or take her back.

Parveena also claimed that Jitender was having an extramarital affair with a woman from Manuguru. She went to confront him with her mother,Tahera, but he became violent and beat the two of them up.

In the horrific visuals, Parveen can be seen bleeding and their son, who is a few months old, can also be seen.

The video sparked controversy on social media, with several people demanding that action be taken against Jitender.

Parveen and Tahera have been taken to hospital, said police sources.

The Bhadradri Kothagudem police said that they have launched a probe. When TNM contacted the Deputy Superintendent of Manuguru, he said, “We have received a complaint, and a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The SI in question is attached to the office of the Superintendent of Police.”

He added, “Further action will be taken following the probe report".
