1. One person was injured when a member of an inter-state gang opened fire on the police to avoid arrest in Hyderabad on Thursday. The incident occurred at around 1 pm on Road No. 36, Jubilee Hills creating a flutter in the posh area. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said all three members of the gang were arrested. 2. After spending crores on the ‘Swachh Hyderabad’, the state government and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) seem to have abandoned the programme. Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 15 lakh to IAS officer Smita Sabharwal towards legal expenses to enable her to file a civil defamation suit against Outlook magazine for posting an article and a cartoon in July 6th edition of the magazine. 4. Around 200 students ransacked the hostel premises at the NRI Academy in Gokul flats at Miyapur on Wednesday night. Protesting the lack of drinking water and electricity at the hostel, they damaged furniture, ceiling fans and water taps at the dining hall and broke utensils in the kitchen, Deccan Chronicle reports.
5. Telugu Desam MLA from Kodangal A. Revanth Reddy was taken into preventive custody when he staged a dharna in Kodangal town of Mahbubnagar District, expressing his protest at the way he was not invited for an official programme though he was the sitting MLA. ReadThe Hindu's report.
