Actor-politician and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan lashed out against the Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday for 'failing to develop' the northern part of the state and making false promises to the Uttarandhra people.

Addressing a large gathering in Srikakulam district as part of his Porata Yatra, Pawan Kalyan said, “They promised industrialisation, investments to develop tourism along the 192-km coastline to bring cheer on the faces of fishermen, employment and education for Uttarandhra. Though the government is four years old now, not a single promise has been fulfilled. We will confront all who have done injustice to people. The promised irrigation project remains incomplete as the leaders and contractors would not move forward until they get commissions and kickbacks. We will question them."

Lashing out at the TDP government in the state and the BJP government at the Centre, Pawan Kalyan asked the people to vote for the Jana Sena party.

“The TDP leaders say that the JSP has no political experience. If that is the case, why did they accept my support in the 2014 elections? This exposes the TDP’s double standards. The NDA government has failed to establish major educational institutions in the region in the last four years. My party will take sincere steps for the development of the backward areas in the region if it is given a clear mandate. We will establish industries and reputed educational institutions in the region for its overall development,” he told the gathering.

Earlier this week, Pawan began his tour across Andhra Pradesh, starting from Ichchapuram town in Srikakulam district.

Dubbed the Jana Sena Porata Yatra, the tour will see a mix of walkathons (padayatra), public meetings and road shows.

He said the aim of this yatra is to highlight the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and also to highlight the several promises made by the Centre during the state’s bifurcation.

Pawan, who had campaigned for the BJP-TDP alliance in 2014 elections before falling out with them, also hopes that the tour would greatly help them when the state goes to the polls in 2019.

The actor-politician has already said that his party would contest all 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh during the 2019 polls.
