Days after lashing out at director Suraj for objectifying women in cinemas, actress Tamannaah Bhatia has signed her first project of 2017, and it isn’t with a popular actor.

Instead, she has chosen to star in the yet-untitled Tamil remake of recent Telugu hit Pellichoopulu.

Interestingly, the film is being produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon, and the Baahubali actress is thrilled to be working with him for the first time in her career.

Gautham’s erstwhile assistant Senthil Veeraasaamy will helm the remake which is slated to go on the floors later this year.

A refreshing take on modern-day romance, Pellichoopulu was one of the most profitable ventures of 2016, and it ushered in a new wave of cinema which did not need to bank on stars to draw crowds.

When contacted, an excited Tamannaah said, “I had heard great things about the film and watched it, when I was offered the remake. It’s a lovely take on new-gen romance and who else can do justice to the genre if not for Gautham.”

While the rest of the cast is yet to be finalised, we have learnt from reliable sources that the regular shooting will commence from March.
