After Taapsee Pannu made scathing remarks on veteran filmmaker K Raghavendra Rao’s ‘obsession’ to display his heroines’ navel in his movies, she has come under flak from the Telugu industry.

The director has been doing this throughout his career but this is perhaps the first time a heroine has made fun of it on a comedy show.

While the Telugu film industry is up-in-arms against the actor for making such comments on their celebrated filmmaker, she has refused to be bogged down by it by, noting that she wasn’t making fun of K Raghavendra Rao but was merely stating a fact.

Taapsee has been quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying, “Er, what did I take a dig at? He’s known for that. I have stated a fact, and if you’re taking it in a derogatory manner, that’s your problem. Trust me, him or me, both of us are really unperturbed by whatever I have said, because I’ve seen the video and he has seen it, too, along with his family, and we are all laughing at it.”

The Deccan Chronicle had also carried out a detailed 'Exclusive' report about various filmmakers from Tollywood lashing out at Taapsee for the comments.

Noted filmmaker YVS Choudhary, a close associate of K Raghavendra Rao, had said that the use of the word ‘obsession’ by Taapsee was completely wrong. He pointed out that all that the director had wanted to do was to portray the actress’s "aesthetic beauty".

Producer Suresh Babu said, “It all depends on how you take it. It is not easy to make a film to enthral all section of the audiences.(sic)"

Fuming over Taapsee’s comments, director Nandini Reddy questioned the actor on why she opted to star in the director’s Jummandi Nadam when she could have done films such as Pink and Naam Shabana early on in her career. She went on to add that it is just not right to make comments on a senior director like K Raghavendra Rao particularly when he offered her a launch-pad.
