Three years since she was last seen in Aishwarya Dhanush’s Vai Raj Vai, Taapsee returns to Tamil cinema with upcoming thriller Game Over, which will predominantly unfold inside a house.

The film’s first look poster and titled were announced on Wednesday and the project started rolling with a customary pooja in Chennai from Thursday. To be directed by Ashwin Saravanan of Maaya and Iravaakaalam fame, Game Over will feature Taapsee in a wheelchair for about 70 percent of the film.

Talking about the project, Ashwin told IANS: “It’ll be a quirky thriller set inside a house. It’ll feature very few characters. Ever since I saw Pink, I’ve wanted to work with Taapsee. I’m glad everything fell in place for this project and I’m excited to be working with her. She’s someone who is not really screen-conscious and can really get under the skin of a character,” Ashwin said, adding that he doesn’t see the film as woman-centric. “I don’t think to make a film with a woman as the protagonist alone makes it woman-centric. Let’s look at Anushka Sharma’s NH10. It’s primarily a thriller about honor killing featuring a woman as the strong protagonist. My film is also a thriller and it features Taapsee as the protagonist.”

Game Over is jointly produced by Y Not Studios and Reliance Entertainment. The film, which will have music by Ron Yohann, will be a bilingual and will be simultaneously shot in Telugu as well.

Having shifted her base to Bollywood post Pink, Taapsee has been very choosy about her southern project. She was recently seen in Telugu film Neevevaro, a remake of Tamil film Adhe Kangal. There are rumors doing the rounds that she might also star in the Tamil remake of Pink with Ajith Kumar.
