Food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy has launched a new offering called ‘Swiggy Scheduled’, which allow users to plan and order their meals up to 48 hours in advance, at zero delivery charges.

According to a statement from the company, with Swiggy Scheduled, users can place their orders in slots of 30 minutes, a minimum of two hours and maximum of 48 hours in advance. This is in line with Swiggy’s promise of being the most reliable and convenient food delivery platform in the country.

Swiggy says that some of its best and most reliable restaurants on the platform will be available on Swiggy Scheduled. In case of cancellation, the users can do so on the app itself, any time before the order becomes live.

“At Swiggy, we are constantly looking for new and powerful ways to serve our consumers’ every food need. Sometimes convenience means being able to plan ahead, especially when order delivery time is crucial. We’ve introduced Swiggy Scheduled for those who not only love a great meal but also want the assurance that it will reach their tables on time,” Anuj Rathi, VP, Products at Swiggy said in a statement.

’Swiggy Scheduled’ has already been launched in Hyderabad and Chennai and would be rolled out in other cities by the end of March.

Swiggy currently has more than 25,000 restaurant partners across the country and most recently expanded its operations to Jaipur by partnering with 300 restaurants in the city.

Currently the largest food delivery player in the country, Swiggy most recently raised $100 million in a round led by South African media giant Naspers and China’s online-to-offline service platform Meituan-Dianping, which is backed by Tencent.

Swiggy competes with the likesof Zomato, UberEATS and FoodPanda in the high competitive food delivery space in India. According to reports, Swiggy handles over 1,40,000 orders a day in India while Zomato handles about 100,000 orders a day in India and the UAE.
