On the film, Vijay Babu has earlier said to The New Indian Express, “It's a Thrissur-based mass film. It's divided into several chapters, each named after the various stages of the pooram, such as Kodiyettam, and Vedikettu. It's an attempt to deliver a different kind of mass film and do justice to this genre. It will have all the ingredients necessary for an entertainer.”

Vijay Babu and Jayasurya have earlier worked together for Aadu and Aadu 2 and this time around it will be an action entertainer that will have Jayasurya in a serious role.

The film is directed by debutant Rajesh Mohanan. Music composer Ratheesh Vega has written the story and the script and also composed the songs of the film. Deepu Joseph will be in charge of the editing and RD Rajasekar has been signed up to crank the camera. Thrissur Pooram will be shot in different locations in Thrissur, Coimbatore and Hyderabad.

Jayasurya is currently busy with director Prasobh Vijayan's untitled film. The film has Shruti Ramachandran playing the female lead. It is bankrolled jointly by Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathi under the banner of E4 Entertainment.
