The Mollywood film Theevandi is soon going to be remade in Telugu. Reports are that Surya Tej will be seen in the role played by Tovino Thomas in the original. Kailas Menon will be composing the tunes for the remake. Incidentally, he had set the tunes for the original version as well. The Telugu version will be titled Pogabandi. The news about the remake was officially announced on the social media by the production house, August Cinema.

We can expect the production house to reveal the rest of the star cast and crew very soon.

Theevandi was directed by Fellini TP with Vini Viswa Lal penning its script. Tovino was seen playing a lethargic chain smoker named Bineesh in the movie and how his love life and social life gets affected due to it. Samyuktha Menon was paired opposite Tovino in the movie with Suraj Venjaramoodu, Saiju Kurup, Shammi Thilakan, Surabhi Lakshmi and Sudheesh playing the supporting roles.

Surya Tej, who will be seen playing Tovino Thomas’ role in the remake, has acted in a number of films in his career in the Telugu film industry till date. His filmography includes Shambo Shiva Shambo, Bhale Mogudu Bhale Pellam, Friends Book and Appudu Ala Eppudu Ela.

On the other hand, after Theevandi and Kalki, Tovino Thomas who has a slew of films in his kitty will be teaming up with Samyuktha Menon again for debutant Swapnesh K Nair’s Edakkad Battalion 06. Edakkad Battalion 06 has cinematography by Sinu Siddarth and music by Kailas Menon, who had composed for Theevandi.

It was announced recently that Tovino will be starring in Sujith Vaassudev’s Forensic. Apart from this film, he will be appearing in And the Oscar Goes To, Luca, Kilometers and Kilometers, Joe, Minnal Murali, and Aaravam. His recently release Uyare, which hit the marquee on April 26, turned out to be a hit.
