Following their successful collaboration in films such as Ayan and Maattrraan, Suriya and filmmaker KV Anand have joined hands for the third time for an action-thriller titled Kaappaan. The next schedule of the film will commence soon and in this schedule, Suriya will wrap up his portions.

In the film, Suriya is rumoured to be playing a bodyguard to Mohanlal, who is said to be playing a Prime Minister. The film stars Mohanlal, Boman Irani, Arya and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. Sayyeshaa has been signed as the female lead.

The film originally starred Telugu actor Allu Sirish in a crucial role. He later chose to exit from the project citing date issues. Arya was eventually signed on to replace Sirish and the grapevine is that the former plays a negative role.

The film marks the comeback of Mohanlal in Tamil cinema after Vijay-starrer Jilla, which released in 2014. Director Anand was the cinematographer of 1994 Mohanlal starrer Thenmavin Kombath.

Bankrolled by Lyca Productions on a lavish budget, the project officially went on the floors on June 25 in London last year and the film is touted to be the costliest project in Suriya’s career. The film will hit the screens either on August 15th or on October 2nd.

Best known for his writing collaboration with SuBa in his films so far, Anand for the first time will be working with novelist Pattukotai Prabhakar on the film’s script and screenplay. Harris Jayaraj will be composing the tunes for this untitled film which has cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam cranking the camera and Anthony editing it.

In the meantime, Suriya recently wrapped up his next film titled NGK, directed by Selvaraghavan. The film is gearing up for a summer release this year. Starring Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi, the film also has Meera, Jagapathi Babu and Bala Singh.
