"S3", the third part in the "Singam" franchise, is slated for release on December 23 worldwide. Busy on a promotional tour, Suriya admitted to a section of media over the weekend that the film is loosely based on some true incidents during the regimes of NTR and MGR in united Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu respectively. He also revealed that they had never planned to make "S3" initially and instead wanted to work on a military-based subject. However, things just fell in place and they went on to collaborate on "S3", thanks to the popularity of the franchise among the audience.

With most of the film set against the backdrop of Vishakhapatnam, "S3" will have a simultaneous release in Telugu too. Directed by Hari, the film also stars Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan as the leading ladies. Talking about the film, Suriya clarified that the film will be in "Singam" format. Just like how a "Bourne" series can never become "Harry Potter" series, there are certain things about Durai Singam which can’t be changed. He will be the same fierce cop.

Heaping praise on his co-stars Anushka and Shruti, Suriya said that both of them are extremely hard working and that he thoroughly enjoyed working with them.
