Actor Suriya last seen in Thaana Serndha Kootam and took a year-long break. The actor is currently busy wrapping up assignments back to back. Recently he wrapped up shooting for his first venture with Director Selvaraghavan titled NGK - Nandha Gopalan Kumaran which will hit the marquee on May 31, 2019.

Currently Suriya is wrapping up KV Anand's Kaappaan with the film's team camped in Java Island to shoot the last song. KV Anand took to Twitter to share a picture from the location.

The makers released the first teaser of the film which opened to a positive response. The teaser looks action-packed and Suriya's role which has many disguises is certainly intriguing. 

In the film, Mohanlal plays the Indian Prime Minister and Suriya said to be playing a high-rank security officer. The film also stars  Arya, Boman Irani, Sayyeshaa, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.   

Composer Harris Jayaraj will be handling the music department and Anthony is in charge of editing with Abhinandan Ramanujam cranking the camera. Bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions the film is touted to be the costliest project in Suriya’s career. Kaappaan is set to hit the theatres in August, this year.

Recently the actor commenced shooting for his next with Director Sudha Kongara in additio to signing on his next project with Director Siruthai Siva who had previously directed four back to back films with Ajith. This film will be bankrolled by Studio Green KE Gnanavel.

Suriya - Sudha Kongara project is titled Soorarai Potru. Co-produced by Guneet Monga in association with 2D Entertainment, the film will be based on the life of Captain Gopinath of Air Deccan. The first look poster which was released along with the title has the actor in a typical shirt and dhoti outfit against the background of a gigantic airplane.
