During the success meet of  Karthi starrer Kadai Kutty Singam which released recently, actor and producer of the film, Suriya, had announced a charity of Rs 1 crore for Tamil Nadu farmers through his Agaram Foundation. In addition to it, he also honoured five efficient farmers with a sum of Rs 2 lakhs each.

Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainments, owned by Suriya, the film marks the first time collaboration between Karthi and Pandiraj. 2D has produced films such as 36 Vayadhinile, 24 and Pasanga 2.  This is also Karthi’s first-time collaboration with 2D Entertainment.

Addressing the media during the meet, Suriya heaped praises on the team saying,  “All credits goes to director Pandiraj.” He also added, "The film has proved that cinema is a good medium where good things have happened through messages conveyed. The film showed that farming is a noble profession and youngsters shouldn’t be ashamed to embrace it."

Karthi said, "We made this film with a lot of desire. One thing that I learned from this film is positivity, which has been with us since the film went on the floors.”

The film is doing extremely well at the box office. According to trade reports, the film has grossed around Rs 37 crore in Tamil Nadu and is still counting. The film was been dubbed and released in Telugu as Chinna Babu jointly produced by  Miryala Ravinder Reddy with Suriya's 2D entertainment.

Reports from the trade circles were that the film had a slow start due to insufficient promos but has been picking up due to good word of mouth. The film has collected around Rs 1 crore share in both the Telugu speaking states – Andhra and Telangana during the first weekend.

Sayyesshaa and Priya Bhavanishankar played the female leads in the movie.The star cast also included Sathyaraj, Sayyeshaa, Arthana Binu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Soori, Bhanupriya, Viji Chandrasekhar, Saroja, Saravanan and Ilavarasu. D Imman had composed music for this venture with Velraj wielding the camera.
