After playing a rough and tough cop in Theeran: Adhigaaram Ondru, Karthi will be seen in a full-length rural avatar in Pandiraj-directed Kadai Kutty Singam, which is being bankrolled by Karthi’s older brother and actor Suriya under his banner 2D Entertainments.

The teaser of Kadai Kutty Singam was launched recently at the Vijay Film Awards and it managed to capture the attention of the film buffs. During the launch event, Karthi said that his brother Suriya may be making a cameo appearance in the film.

Fans from across the globe have been wondering when the siblings would work together in a film, but for now, they will have to be satisfied with the guest appearance. Revealing another detail about Kadai Kutty Singam, Karthi said that it will be a film on the farmers and their plight in the society.

Karthi plays the lead role in the movie with Sayyeshaa and Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female leads. The others in the star cast include Arthana Binu, Sathyaraj, Bhanupriya, Viji Chandrasekhar, Ponvannan, Soori, Sriman and Soundararaja.

Kadai Kutty Singam’s technical crew includes D Imman for music, Velraj for cinematography and Ruben for editing. The shooting of this film began in November last year in Chennai and a major portion of it was shot in Thenkasi. During the filming, the team ran into trouble with the Animal Welfare Board of India as it shot the Rekla Race without the permission of the Board. However, it was later clarified that the scenes were shot at the race held by the Rekla Federation of Tamil Nadu based on the permission granted by the Collector of Pudukottai. The film is due for release this year and its release date is yet to be announced.

Karthi will be teaming up with Director Rajath Ravishankar for a mega-budget action film which has been titled Dev. To be bankrolled by Prince Pictures and Reliance Entertainment, the project was officially announced in March this year. Rakul Preet Singh, who was also part of Theeran, has reunited with Karthi for this project.
