Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is currently busy with his Kannada film Pailwan in which he shares the screen space with Kichcha Sudeep and the Malayalam magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, which has Mohanlal in the titular role.

With the actor busy in regional language films, he is now set for a big debut in Tollywood. Suniel Shetty has been approached by the makers of Varun Tej’s upcoming film for a pivotal role. Touted to be a sports drama, this film has a meaty role for Suniel and impressed with it he has agreed to hop on board, say sources. The project will be helmed by Kiran Korrapati, an erstwhile associate of Srinu Vaitla.

Suniel Shetty is also a part of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham upcoming big budget venture  inspired by the life of 16th century naval chief Kunjali Marakkar directed by Priyadarshan. Both Priyadarshan and Suniel Shetty have worked together in several Bollywood projects. It may be mentioned that Suniel Shetty did a cameo in Mohanlal-Priyadarshan's Kakkakuyil. It is also rumoured that Pranav Mohanlal is likely to play a role in the film.

While the groundwork for this sports-based film is on, Varun Tej is busy with Valmiki, which is directed by Harish Shankar. Interestingly, Valmiki will be the remake of the hit Tamil movie Jigarthanda. Reports are that Harish Shankar is not planning it as an exact remake but will be making some changes to the script to suit the Telugu audiences. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose the tunes for this flick. It will be bankrolled by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under their banner. Varun Tej will be playing a gangster in this flick.

Varun Tej’s last film, F2: Fun and Frustration, released in January this year, was a big hit. With this hit under his belt, the young star is looking forward to another massive hit this year.
